Seeing Through AI: Deep Learning for Computer Vision

Computer vision enables machines to interpret and analyze visual information from images and videos. Powered by deep learning, it has transformed applications such as healthcare, autonomous driving, security, object detection, image segmentation, and 3D scene understanding. This workshop introduces the fundamentals of neural networks and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), explores modern computer vision techniques including generative models and 3D reconstruction, and covers practical topics such as transfer learning, data augmentation, and the challenges of AI-based vision systems.

The Centre for Research and Innovation Services was incorporated in 2018 as a guarantee-limited company under the Companies Act of Sri Lanka. Originally focused on science and technology, our portfolio has since expanded to include a broad spectrum of disciplines including arts, humanities and social sciences bringing researchers together to share expertise, accelerate knowledge transfer, and create solutions with real social impact.
CRIS facilitates partnerships, secures funding pathways, and provides advisory and project management services that help ideas mature into deployable outcomes. We also offer research ethics review & training while we pursue formal accreditation locally and globally.
